Deutschland holt den Titel
Endspielatmosphäre in München am Oberwiesenfeld beim letzten Spiel des Deutschland Cup 2012 zwischen dem Titelverteidiger aus der Slowakei und dem DEB Team vom neuen Bundestrainer Pat Cortina, das mit einer sehr guten Turnierleistung souverän und hochverdient Deutschlandcup Sieger 2012 wurde.
Die Deutsche Eishockey Nationalmannschaft wurde von Pat Cortina gegen die Slowakei taktisch sehr gut eingestellt und konnte im ersten Drittel vorallem mit einer sehr sicheren Abwehrleistung glänzen. In der 9. Minute musste man eine fünfminütige Unterzahlsituation überstehen, da Martin Buchwieser nach einem Stockcheck mit Verletzungsfolge eine Spieldauerdisziplinarstrafe erhielt. Zum Ende des Eröffnungsdrittel kam Deutschland dann zu einen guten Chancen und störte den Spielaufbau der Slowaken frühzeitig in der neutralen Zone.

Aus einer sicheren Abwehr heraus erspielte sich das Team von Pat Cortina im zweiten Abschnitt einige gute Torchancen und machten die Räume für die Slowakei weiterhin sehr eng, so dass diese nicht richtig in Fahrt kamen. Kapitän Michael Wolf hatte in der 35. Minute eine große Torchance, jedoch brach Ihm bereits zum zweiten Mal in dem Spiel sein Arbeitsgerät.
In der 50. Spielminute wird die Deutsche Mannschaft für die gute Leistung am heutigen Tag belohnt, als die beiden Schweden Legionäre Marcel Müller und Alex Barta die Führung für Deutschland herbeiführen. Torchütze war Alex Barta. Nur eine Minute später dürfen sich die 5.600 Zuschauer erneut über einen Treffer von Deutschland freuen, als DEB Debütant Garret Festerling auf Vorlage von Felix Schütz das 2:0 markierte.
Die Zuschauer honorierten die gute Turnierleistung der Deutschen Mannschaft mit stehenden Ovationen in den letzten Minuten des Spiels und Dimitrij Kotschne konnte einen Shutout verzeichnen.
