Deutschland mit Shutout gegen die Schweiz
Am zweiten Tag des Deutschlandcup 2012 in München traf das Team vom neuen Bundestrainer Pat Cortina auf die Eidgenossen aus der Schweiz. Beide Mannschaften hatten ihre Auftaktmatche bereits gewonnen. Mit einer Glanzleistung, besonders in der Defensive konnte Dennis Endras mit einem Shuout den zweiten Sieg des Turniers einfahren.
Das Eröffnungsdrittel wurde von beiden Teams mit einer hohen Intensität bestritten, es gab sehr viele packende Zweikämpfe an den Banden und die Schweiz konnte mit einigen Distanzschüssen Dennis Endrass prüfen. Bei einer doppelten Überzahl für Deutschland erzielte Christoph Ullmann in der 5. Minute den 1:0 Führungstreffer. Pat Cortina hatte seine Mannschaft sehr gut auf die Schweizer eingestellt und sahen die ca. 5.600 Zuschauer im Münchner Eisstadion ein packendes Drittel.

Wie im ersten Drittel ging es in der Partie auch weiter, viele verbissene Zweikämpfe und ein ausgeglichenes Chancenverhältnis auf beiden Seiten war das Ergebnis. Deutschland erspielte sich vorallem in der Schlussphase des Mittelabschnittes einige hochkarätige Chancen. Die letzten beiden Minuten musste das DEB Team in Unterzahl bestreiten und zeigte weiterhin gute Powerplaykilling Qualitäten.
Die Schweiz war im letzten Drittel das etwas aktiviere Team und prüfte Dennis Endrass im Tor von Deutschland das ein und andere Mal. Das DEB Team kämpfte weiter aufopferungsvoll und versuchte durch Konter die Vorentscheidung herbeizuführen. Minute für Minute rollte eine rote Welle auf den Kasten von Dennis Endras, doch der MVP von der WM 2010 zeigte erneut eine sehr starke Leistung und verhinderte den Ausgleich. In der letzten Spielminute als die Schweizer bereits den Torhüter vom Eis nahmen konnte David Wolf auf Zuspiel des Kapitän Michael Wolf mit dem Emtynetgoal die Entscheidung herbeiführen.
